Road Trippin'

We alternate holidays in our home and I must say, it is bitter sweet. Its like having too much ice cream…its so good until the stomach ache and guilt set in :)

But, we always enjoy time with family! I am happy to announce that I have completed road trip #14 (but who’s counting?) We could argue all day about car or airplane preferences and my pros and cons list looks something like this:
Car
Pros: being able to take the dogs, cheaper,
Cons: back aches, fast food only stops, fearing other drivers, police traps, flat tires,
Airplane
Pros: Less work, maybe less time
Cons: I sometimes get sick, missing flights, fighting crowds, standing in lines, practically undressing at checkpoints, losing luggage (I lost all my luggage when I went down to Belize for mission work. 4 weeks with no clothes = unhappy camper (literally…I did a lot of camping). Long layovers,

Anyways, we drove and we made it. I know wonder what I did before 4G and pinterest….and Instagram!

Moustache Fundraiser.

Moustache + November = Movember.
I had someone order some mustache cups from my store and they informed me that it is for a MOVEMBER Fundraiser party. I didn't know what it was, but if you have heard of "No shave November" its kinda like that but better - much better!

click picture for website

(taken from their website) Men start Movember 1st clean shaven. For the rest of the month, these selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery.  Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts.

Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November. Through their actions and words they raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.

At the end of the month, Mo Bros celebrate their gallantry and valor by either throwing their own Movember party (where donations are recieved).

Turns out they have raised a lot of money and their website does a great job in disclosing where money goes and how it is spent. They support LIVESTRONG, and PROSTATE CANCER FOUNDATION.

As a public health professional and a mustache supplier, I'm happy to be a part of it. Men's health is less often talked about and this is such a creative fun way to bring awareness. If only I would have known sooner....oh, the possibilities!

Best Halftime show EVER!

Baylor Homecoming was this weekend and the halftime show was so great, I had to share.
The show was highlighting two national championships won last year - equestrian and women's basketball. This video is 10 minutes long but if you want, you can skip to 5:30 mark and see a fun show.

I was never in band but as my sister said/says "halftime is game time!"

Come on Down!

While there was no trick or treating for us, I was able to dress up for a work party.

A co-worker dressed up as a Deal or No Deal model so I decided to stick with the game show theme.
I always wanted to go on The Price is Right!

And the Price really was right! I think it was the cheapest costume I have EVER made!
I bought a white poster board and a pack of construction paper and taped everything together. I taped clear fishing wire to hang over my neck and voila! I did use an old Baylor shirt to add a BOB BARKER reference ;)

Of course I had to be that jerk that bid a $1 more and won!
