2.5

We celebrate half birthdays around here and I'm so glad we do.
Yesterday our little pumpkin turned 2.5
we have made it a tradition to go to the pumpkin patch and eat a cupcake on her half birthdays and boy was she excited about it!

We started by visiting the pumpkin patch at Magnolia.
I don't know when this started, but her little grin melts my heart!
Kind of mischievous with a mix of cuteness.

We picked up cupcakes

and headed home for a play date with her "little sister" Ellie.
Reminder to self: she has AMAZING big sister qualities!

Then we headed to her favorite place - the library.
Yes, this was a lot for one day but the books were due and it was her (half) birthday so....

She literally spends hours there. now, she looks at pictures and makes up her own stories. its adorable and entertaining.

We waited for Papa to get home and had dinner and our cupcake celebration!
She was totally into it and even requested that we sing to her AND requested candles!!
no candles but she was happy to pretend!

at 2.5 five she is very mature and intelligent - loves Curious George and Paw Patrol - she is fully potty trained, even at night (though I'm not brave enough to let her) - she love pickles - she is kind - she likes feeding the dogs and helping me cook - she can ride her tricycle and scooter - she loves hiking - she gives the best hugs

three sounds too big and so far away so we will relish this stage!

Weekend Warriors.

This weekend, we got to spend time with Aunt J.
Thursday - Sunday of uninterrupted time!

We did breakfast, walking, and shopping before school pickup.
Then Reyna was so excited to go "climb mountains" with Aunt J.
(this means hiking. although, it is VERY rocky and steep)

We got to show Aunt J how we twirl with our arms open when we reach the top -  "We did it!"
Then we went to the playground and gathered leaves.

We spent Saturday at the Farmer's Market, riding the trolley, hitting up the murals, and going to the park.

It was so good to have Aunt J around!
We miss her already!

Grandma Bettie visits Waco.

Since the weekend is almost here, I thought I'd better post about last week/weekend.
We had special guests all week. Grandma Bettie came down with Neil's Mom on Monday and spent the entire week helping me! It was a busy week at work and Neil was gone most of the time so the extra hands were so helpful!
It was such a treat to have Grandma in our neck of the woods and share our town with her.
We feel honored to have her stay with us in our new home!
The were able to play tourist a little bit.
They went to Zoo day at Reyna's school, went to the park, painted, baked, and just played all day.
We were even able to go a football game AND dinner...on our bikes!

I didn't take many pictures because I wasn't there much but here are a few from Saturday's Homecoming parade.

It went by so fast! I'm so grateful for helping hands! Looking forward to another set of hands this weekend!

Where is thumbkin?

Reyna has been a thumb sucker.
It's fine and hasn't bothered us much but the time has come to break the habit.

We asked around for a few recommendations and there are so many!
I decided that I did not want to do any paint or nail polish stuff if I could avoid it.

We talked to Reyna about it and helped her to become more aware of why she does that.
She recognized that its when she is sleepy. That's fine to us. So every time she puts it in her mouth we say something like, "oh, lets go to bed. you must be sleepy."
And she takes it out and says, "I'm good."

So to help her I suggested we use a band aid and she jumped at the idea.

Here she is showing off her little helper.

I was really asking to take pictures of her because of her cute outfit and cute mickey ears...

We were on our way out the door to church.
And when we got there, I had this overwhelming feeling of sweetness for her Papa.
I laughed as I remembered how much he wanted a boy....

Art Festival.

Fall is in the air.
This means lots of outdoor fun.
Waco has an Art festival that is pretty good!
We started the morning off at the farmers market and then took the trolley around to the festival.
She loves the trolley and its free!
It goes all day and hits up the Farmers Market, Magnolia, and SPICE. All my favs!

We met a sweet friend there and I wish we could have stayed longer but the girls had so much fun together.

And, they looked cute doing it.

They had these large statues that everyone could paint on.

 Prepped with aprons and paint.
Another station had a bunch, like 50 stations of easels to paint on.
The little artist brought home her creation.

They had wood building stations, clay, pottery, book building, etc.
Throughout the weekend there was also poetry, word art, and music.
We made it home with all our goodies and hardly any paint on our clothes!
